Lot Description

WWI-era Imperial Russian Cossack Shashka

33.7" blade length. 39.125" overall with hilt. Slightly curved single edged blade with single fullers running 23" along the blade, brass pommel and guard, and wood grips with carved grip serrations. Sword is dated 1917 on the right ricasso and shows a Zlatoust manufacture stamp enclosing the {Imperial Russian Eagle} marking. Further scattered arsenal stamps to the guard and ricasso including {Crown/A} and A marks, and the number 42 to right ricasso. Item features a birdshead pommel with lanyard loop.
