U.S. Pattern of 1861 .69 Caliber Round Ball Cartridge Box with Sling and both Plates by Garcelon & Covell
American Civil War
8" x 2.75" x 7.5". Black leather cartridge box with leather sling mounting plates to the sling and flap. Cartridge box displays maker marking GARCELON & COVELL/1863/LEWISTON MS. Features two soldered tin liners. Brass US plate affixed to the flap with the shoulder strap mounting the {United States Eagle} looking over its left wing clutching three arrows and an olive branch. Item features angled buckles retaining the strap, a brass stud, and an intact tie down strap.
