Lot Description

19th Century Halfstock Percussion Smoothbore

.44 Cal. 40" barrel length. SN: NSN. Re-browned metal finish to the barrel with the lockplate in the white, German Silver forend cap, and brass fittings set in varnished walnut straight wrist stock. Single shot octagonal barrel percussion smoothbore with fixed rear notch and front brass blade sights. Item features a crescent shaped butt, and single set triggers. Remnants of a maker mark to the top of the barrel might be T. ROOF. The stock features a single securing pin for the barrel with German Silver escutcheons. Item appears to have been restocked with the single fastener lead soldered in place, and three void indentations that formerly served as mounts. Lockplate is lightly engraved with double borders, some floral scrollwork to the rear lockplate and on the hammer face, and a hunting vignette of a lone hunter looking on as two ducks take flight. Comes with a wooden ramrod with brass tip.

WARNING: Item lacks the single fastening pin, and one must be furnished before attempting to fire. Additionally, a gunsmith must inspect the stock cracking.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
