Lot Description
U.S. Model 1822 (M1816 Type II) Musket by Evans
.69 caliber. 42" barrel secured by three flat, spring retained bands. NSN. Bright finish, steel furniture, walnut stock. Single shot muzzleloading smoothbore flintlock military musket with no rear sight and brass blade front sight. Lock remains in original flint with all internal parts showing matching mating marks, as does the cock, pan, frizzen and external lock screws. Lock marked W.L. EVANS/{Spread-Winged Eagle}/V FORGE in three horizontal lines under the pan and US/1830 in two vertical lines at the tail. Breech with George Flegel's GF/P/US inspection marks. Weak script Luther Sage LS cartouche on counterpane. Missing lower swivel, upper swivel present. Forend spliced at middle band, ramrod is a reproduction of the correct type.
