Barrel shank shows the {Imperial Russian Eagle} above the markings of the Russian Sestoresk Arsenal where it was made, and a date of production of 1917. Rifle shows scattered inspection stamps to major parts. Serial numbers do not match. Upper receiver flat is marked U.R.R.S., an export marking typically seen on Mosin Nagant rifles exported as aid to Spain during the Spanish Civil War. Left receiver further marked MADE IN/USSR applied before export to the United States. Tang struck with a boxed M marking.
