**Colt 1911 World War I Belleau Wood Commemorative Pistol in Display Case
World War I

.45 ACP. 5" barrel length. SN: 1177-BW. Blued metal finish with polished barrel and hammer flanks mounting smooth walnut grip panels. Short-recoil operated single action autoloading pistol fed by detachable single stack magazines and commemorating the World War I Battle of Belleau Wood. Right slide has been engraved with gold banner reading 1917 WORLD WAR I COMMEMORATIVE 1967 above the single-line address reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A. Left side features {American Lewis Gunners covering an advance through the woods} forward of the cocking serrations and with a circled {Rampant Colt} logo behind. Grip panels feature bronze medallions with the left marked 1917 1918/WORLD WAR I surrounding {United States Eagle} above a banner reading BELLEAU WOOD. The right grip panel mounts a medallion featuring {US Army "Doughboy"} surrounded by the names of all the Allied nations and above a banner reading THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION. Item comes in a wood display case painted OD green with the interior face reading World War I Commemorative Colt .45 Automatic Pistol with the Rainbow banner to the upper right corner. Lower left features {American machine gun crew in a wooded position with the silhouettes of advancing Americans behind}. The lower right corner is marked THE BATTLE OF BELLEAU WOOD/"...it was, indeed, the one battle that halted/the German offensive, began the ebb tide of/German fortunes... and saved Paris from oc-/cupation...." Back side of the display case features an insert with further information about the battle along with a cable mount. Included with the handgun are one magazine and the owner's manual.
