Lot Description

World War II

7.92x57mm. 23.62" barrel length. SN: 9319o. Blued metal finish overall set in a laminated wood semi-pistol grip stock with stock disk and mounting standard adjustable rear notch and fully hooded inverted-V front sights. Bolt-action repeating rifle fed by an internal box magazine displaying WWII German production markings. Left receiver is struck with the model marking Mod 98 in Gothic letters, with the CE/42 code on top of the receiver indicating the rifle was manufactured by J.P. Sauer & Sohn in 1942. Underside of the barrel is struck with the initials ceD followed by two {Eagle/37} Waffenamt markings along with an asterisk. Left barrel and receiver show the {WWII German Eagle} acceptance marking with the latter showing a second {WWII German Eagle/37} above the maker marking and {Eagle/280} Waffenamt mark to the right receiver, and on the barrel band. Serial numbers do not match on stock or bayonet lug, but all remaining serial numbers match. Sling is marked O. Graff/Berlin/1939.
