** Winchester M1 Garand Post-War Refurbish with 1944-Dated Springfield Armory Barrel
World War II
.30-06. 24" barrel length. SN: 1321399. Parkerized metal finish overall mounting walnut semi-pistol grip stock and T105 pattern sights. Long-stroke piston gas operated rifle utilizing a rotating bolt and fed by an internal box magazine charged with en-bloc clips. The serial number marking indicates the receiver was manufactured in April, 1943, with the manufacturer mark reading U.S. RIFLE/CAL. .30 M1/WINCHESTER/TRADEMARK above the serial number. The majority of observed drawing numbers indicate Winchester manufacture, but the barrel and operating rod both bear Springfield Armory stamps, indicating they were installed during postwar refurbishment. Bolt drawing number D28287-1 W.R.A. appropriate for wartime production. Cut operating rod D35382 SA correct for cut operating rods installed on post-war rebuilds. The trigger housing is marked D28290-W.R.A. while the hammer shows D-46008-1 W.R.A. Both are correct for wartime production. The receiver drawing number reads D28291-2. Item mounts a Type 2B style stock showing Springfield style cuts and a weak Circle P proof on the wrist, indicating it was sanded at some point. The barrel date marking reads 1-S-A-12-44, indicating it to be a World War II production barrel that was installed during refurbishment. Electro-pen mark to the right receiver reads LEAD/4-64. Stock is void of tools. Item shows a muzzle erosion reading of 1 and a throat reading of 1.
