The markings include the Smith & Wesson monogram trademark to the sideplate and MADE IN U.S.A. to the right frame forward of the triggerguard. The left barrel is marked SMITH & WESSON and the right displays the caliber marking 38 S.&W. SPECIAL CTG. A matching serial number has been struck onto the inside surface of the right grip panel, on the rear cylinder, inside of the star extractor, and to the inside of the underlug below the barrel. The full length non-vented barrel rib is matted along its upper surface and continuous with the matting atop the rear sight.
