Single edge sword with twin fullers and 7" long false edge. The back of the blade is marked IRON:PROOF with the Weyersburg {King's Head} mark on the left ricasso. Right blade marked W. HORSTMANN/& SONS/PHILADELPHIA. The blade features floral acid etched designs including U.S.M.C. on the left blade between floral scroll and banners. Right blade shows the national motto E. PLURIBUS/UNUM. Top seamed brass mounted leather scabbard not of Horstmann manufacture, with white buff leather frog with faded period ink initials on the back when appear to read W Q? which may be a last name. A weak ink stamp maker's mark is present on the rear of the frog and illegible as well.
