Lot Description

A group of three Federal or Classical coin silver sugar bowls, Nicholas James Bogert (1776-1843), Eoff & Connor (active 1833-1834), New York, NY, and maker "IAE," first quarter 19th century

Comprising a covered sugar bowl by Eoff & Connor, or the partnership between Garrett Eoff (1779-1845) and John Henry Connor (1809-1854), with two handles, a lid with finial, and bands of repoussé shell and foliage on footed base, marked to underside; a covered sugar bowl by Nicholas James Bogert, with lobed body, two handles, a lid with floral-form finial, and bands of repoussé motifs, on footed base, the body inscribed, “Parker,” marked to underside; and a sugar bowl, by maker “IAE,” of oblong form, with gilt washed interior, two handles, gadrooned and chased rim, the body decorated with band of Classical motifs including sea-griffins, cornucopias, anthemion, and laurel motifs, on footed base with paw-form feet, the base faintly inscribed with name and date, “1823,” marked to underside.
