Lot Description

[Presidential] [Roosevelt, Theodore]: Lithographic Print

[Roosevelt, Theodore]
Lithographic Print|
Boston: John A. Lowell & Co., ca. 1901. Lithographic print of a bull moose, 10 1/4 x 13 3/4 in. (260 x 349 mm). Mounted in top left is a circular portrait of Theodore Roosevelt printed by the John A. Lowell Bank Note Company of Boston, embellished in pencil with a spray of oak leaves. Inscribed below lithograph, "This was sent to Theo. Roosevelt by the engraver who made it, and was given to me in the 1912 campaign. (Note the pencil work under the insert. O. Braun)". Sheet unevenly trimmed, with scattered small chipping along edge; scattered minor stains. In frame, 11 3/8 x 14 7/8 in. (289 x 378 mm).

A handsome lithograph of a bull moose, gifted by President Theodore Roosevelt to one of his supporters. The image is no doubt a reference to Roosevelt's newly founded Progressive Party, often referred to as the "Bull Moose Party."
