Polk, as 11th President of the United States and by future 15th President, James Buchanan, as Secretary of State; additionally signed by members of Polk's cabinet, including: Secretary of War William Marcy, Secretary of the Navy John Y. Mason, Postmaster General Cave Johnson, and Attorney General Nathan Clifford. Signature of Secretary of the Treasury Robert J. Walker on separate card attached at bottom. Manuscript on verso of larger sheet, "Autographs of the President of the United States of America, and the members of his Cabinet, March 4. 1848.--" Creasing from contemporary folds. In mat with engraved portraits of Polk and Buchanan, and in double-pane glass frame, 13 1/2 x 22 1/2 in. (343 x 571 mm).
