Illustrated with a frontispiece map of Egypt and 24 mounted chromolithographic plates after watercolors by Werner; with original captioned tissue guards. Publisher's grey cloth-covered boards, decoratively stamped in blind, red, blue, black, and in gilt, spine ends and corners worn, some decoration on spine chipped away; all edges gilt; patterned endpapers; scattered light soiling in margins; small closed tear in bottom edge of some leaves at front; repaired closed tear bottom edge, pp 53/54 and 55/56.

A lovely copy of German watercolorist Karl Werner's views of Egypt, illustrating landscapes, temples, mosques, and other scenery made during his two journeys along the Nile River Valley, from 1862-1865. First published in 1875.
