Lot Description
Two Viennese silver gilt and enamel desk clocks in the form of a pipe organ and mandolin Karl Bank (active 1895-1924) and Maker "PL," the latter with works by Johann Mayer, Vienna, Austria, circa 1900
Allover decorated with hand-painted enamel Greek mythological scenes, the first, a music box in the form of a pipe organ, by Karl Bank, with domed top having floral urn finial, flanked by columns surmounted by putti, on shaped base with feet in the form of hippocampi, with inkwell, marked twice with maker's mark, "KB," and marked with regional assay office letter, "A"; the second, in the form of a mandolin, with hinged back revealing compartment, the back of clock works signed, "Johann Mayer in Wienna," marked three times with maker's mark, "PL," and also marked twice with regional assay office letter, "A."
