[Americana] Jay, John Partially-Printed Document, signed

Albany, New York, April 18, 1800. One large sheet, folded along top edge, 10 1/4 x 13 3/4 in. (260 x 349 mm). Partially-printed military commission, signed by John Jay as Governor of New York, appointing Samuel Anderson an Ensign in the Regiment of Militia in Otsego County; counter-signed by Secretary Jasper Hopper, bottom left; paper seal intact; docketed on verso. Creasing from old folds, scattered separations along same, affecting some printed text; repairs to folds on verso of integral blank; scattered spotting; unevenly toned. In frame, 10 7/8 x 14 3/8 in. (276 x 365 mm). With an old manuscript note adhered to frame.
