Stowe, Lieutenant 1st Infantry, signed by Colonel Zachary Taylor as commander of Fort Crawford, affirming the requisition of stationery for an upcoming court-martial. Creasing from contemporary folds. Float-mounted in mat with a portrait of Taylor and medallion; unexamined out of gilt frame, 27 1/2 x 30 1/2 in. (698 x 775 mm).

A requisition for "1/2 quire letter paper" and a "1/2 dozen quills" to be used in a court martial, signed by future president Zachary Taylor while in command of the 1st United States Infantry at Fort Crawford in Prairie du Chien, in present-day Wisconsin. Taylor commanded the Fort from 1829-37.
