A 42-Star American National Flag commemorating Washington statehood 1889-1890
The hand-sewn cotton stars arranged in a " double cigar" pattern with 17 stars in each ovoid formation separated by a row of 8 stars on a two-part wool bunting canton, machine- sewn wool bunting stripes and machine-sewn canvas header fitted with three brass grommets. The header inscribed in ink, "J. R. Dunkerley/ 43 Sherman Ave."
