A well-decorated Satsuma lobed bowl, Hodada 萨摩烧花瓣碗 Meiji period ??

Of lobed "Chrysanthemum" form, alternate interior and exterior "petals" with cobalt glaze, decorated with floral and diaper decoration; the alternate petals with various figural, mythological, landscape, or bird or animal scenes, the center of the well with a sinuous gold dragon. Underside inscribed "Toyo bijutsu no sakigake/Tosoneki-do sei/Hodada toki hanbai ten", and with the Shimazu mon.
