A Japanese lacquer fitted incense game box decorated with rider and attendant on a shore 日本时绘漆盒一件 Meiji period ??

Intricately decorated with togidashi and hiramaki-e and nashiji, the cover depicting a rider and his attendant on a shore, with mountains and trees in the distance, extending to the sides, with birds, pavilion, and thatched structures, all against the roiro ground, with a pair of cloisonné maple leaf-form suspension rings and later red cords; the interior contains six individual small boxes decorated with various subjects on terraces, all on a deep tray.
