Denver: Alan Swallow, (1948). First edition. 8vo. (iv), 140 pp. Inscribed by Williams on front free endpaper, "Best wishes,/John Williams". Original blue cloth, residue from dust-jacket along upper front board; in original dust-jacket, two-inch section of dust-jacket adhered to lower spine, scattered wear along panel edsges, scattered light soiling.

Rare inscribed copy of John Williams's first novel. Both the dust-jacket and book were designed by Williams. He would go on to to win the National Book Award in 1973 for his novel Augustus.
