Fore-edge painting replicating CSS Nashville burning the ship Harvey Birch off the Irish Coast, November 19, 1861 by Duncan McFarlane (1864). Full dark blue pebbled morocco, stamped in gilt, front and rear joint rubbed, corners lightly worn; all edges gilt; gilt dentelles; marbled endpapers; by Caves & Wilson, Cambridge; two ownership inscriptions on first free leaf; foxing to prelims and rear blanks and endpapers; scattered minor spotting to text.
