[Aviation] Earhart, Amelia Signed First Flight Cover

Cleveland to Detroit, May 15, 1929. Air mail envelope, signed by Earhart and co-pilot Ralph E. DeVore, commemorating "First Amphibian Flight over Lake Erie...Cleveland-Detroit"; co-signed by J.O. Beard; postmarked Cleveland, Ohio, May 15, 1929; 5 cent stamp; Chicago, Illinois cancellation on verso; envelope made out to Assistant Superintendent Benny Myers of the Air Mail Service, Post Office Department; mounting residue top corners verso. Lot includes a typed letter, signed by Myers, to W. Irving Glover, Second Superintendant of the Post Office, gifting it to Glover's wife, and recounting a story about Earhart's flight: 'It was also interesting to me to learn/that on this first flight, the ship encountered some heavy fog/while over Lake Erie and landed on the waters of that lake/and waited for three hours for the weather to clear, after/which they took off and completed their trip to Detroit"; mounting residue on verso; opened. 7 1/4 x 8 in.
