Lot Description

[Autographs & Manuscripts] James I of England and VI of Scotland Manuscript Letters Patent

Westminster, February 18, 1619. Approximately 20 1/2 x 31 1/2 in. (521 x 800 mm). Large letters patent in Latin on vellum, to William Blount of Codington for land in Worcestershire; large initial letter with portrait of the King James; top border decorated with floral motif; impressive Great Seal attached to original plaited cords at bottom, partially restored. Creasing from original folds; separating at center right fold; bottom right corner fold repaired; scattered soiling, with some lines worn away and illegible.
