London: Printed by Henry Fry, 1798; London: Printed for the Translator, by G. Sidney, et al., 1799. Two parts in one volume. First edition. Translated from the Dutch and Latin editions by Hoole. 4to. (ii), (viii), (ii), (iv), (a)-h, 143, (i); (ii), iv, viii, (145)-183, (ii), 192-314 pp., with a separate title-page for the second part, presumably lacking half-titles. Illustrated with frontispiece portrait, 11 engraved plates (8 folding), and one hand-colored initial. 19th-century three-quarter polished calf over marbled paper-covered boards, rubbed, red goatskin spine label, stamped in gilt, all edges trimmed; two leaves ("Translator to the Reader") inserted after Advertisement at front, "Dedication of the First Part" bound in at front after title-page, scattered spotting, soiling, and dampstaining to prelims, frontispiece trimmed, plates moderately foxed in margins, light dampstaining in top gutter of second plate, and plates iv, v, ix, x; moderate dampstaining and foxing to plates vi, vii, viii, closed tear along bottom fold in plate II. Ownership stamp of George H. Pethybridge on front free endpaper.
