Lot Description

An unsusual carved, painted and parcel gilt figure of a male bodhisattva, probably Tibetan 17th/18th century

Carved of a fine, dense, dark timber, possibly red sandalwood, depicted seated on a lotus base, one arm raised, with flowing garments, heavy earrings and a pendant, an elaborate crown, retaining significant amounts of polychromy, underside with plugged recess.
