Lot Description

A Chinese carved jade ewer and cover in ming dynasty style, possibly 17th/early 18th century

Of pear shape, with curved spout and handle, the spout carved with makara head and cloud scrolls; one side of the body carved with plum blossom and rocks with a stylized charater, the other side carved with flowers, bamboo, lingzhi, and another charater; the cover carved with two qilong, an openwork qilong finial, the stone of a grey-white with celadon tint, scattered russet-tinged fissures, some cleverly incorporated into the carving.
