Lot Description
A Sino-Tibetan gilt bronze figure of a seated wrathful deity on a makara-type mount, possibly a white Chulha (Varuna)
The deity with four arms, all on an oval lotus-petal base, underside incised with a double vajra. LITERATURE: The present figure may depict one of the Ten World Gods from a mandela of Baishajyaguru. For a similar two-armed figure on a makara-type mount, see the example illustrated in Marylin M. Rhie and Robert A. F. Thurman, "Wisdom and Compassion, The Sacred Art of Tibet, New York, 1991, p. 338, no. 134.
