Lot Description
Two gold, ivory and hairwork mourning pins/pendants Probably England, dated 1783 and 1789
The first, of marquise form, with raised hairwork urn flanked by the initials, "JS," marcasite surround, the reverse inscribed, "Jane/ Spencer/ Ob 26 Octr/ 1783/ Ae 77"; the second, depicting raised urn on plinth inscribed, "IN DEATH/ LAMENTED/ AS/ IN LIFE/ BELOVED" with reverse-painted willow tree, the reverse inscribed, "Samuel/ Viney/ Died 19 May/ 1789/ Aged 65," both seemingly unmarked.
