Lot Description

Five gold mourning pins/pendants 19th century

The first, of marquise form, with applied gilt initials, "AMW," on hairwork ground, enamel surround, the reverse set with hair, fitted with pin and loop attachments; the second, of oval form, painted on tin, centering a woman beside urn on plinth, cross on hillock in the distance, conforming paint-decorated surround enclosed by paste brilliants, the reverse fitted with pin; the third, of oval form with gilt initials "JC" against fabric ground, beaded gold surround, the reverse is mother-of-pearl, fitted with pin and loop attachment; the fourth of horizontal oval form, painted enamel showing plinth, inscribed, "IN MEMORY OF/ MY/ DEAR/ SISTER," the reverse fitted with pin, all seemingly unmarked; together with a gold and hairwork mourning pin, with onyx surround, the reverse inscribed, "RG/ Aged 36/ died 16th April/ 1828."
