Lot Description

Fine pair of William IV silver candlesticks Paul Storr, London, 1835-36

The openworked rococo stem cast with putto resting on foliage, the similar shaped bases decorated with chased leaves and C-scrolls with panels of diaperwork ground, applied monogram on stippled ground below a crown; the underside of one engraved with "No. 12, 38, 15" and "55", the other with "No. 10, 38, 5" and the number "56," the interior of the candle cup engraved "Published as the act directs by Storr & Mortimer 156 New Bond Street London, Oct. 15 1835," one with the number "11," the other with the number "4"; together with an associated pair of three-light candelabra arms, intricately chased and decorated with foliage, floral, and fruit blossoms, stamped "Sterling" with engraved number "60" to one, and "61" to the other.
