Lot Description

Monumental George IV silver-gilt salver William Brown, London, circa 1825

Shaped circular form with wide reticulated border heavily decorated with scrolls, leaves, and berries, with applied and intricately chased panthers throughout, with four masks in high relief representative of the four seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall; the central well engraved with Rococo-style C-scrolls and floral blossoms on a stippled ground, centered by an armorial bearing the marital arms of Sir Charles Mills (1792-1872) and Emily Cox (1802-1844), raised on four scroll and foliate feet.
