Lot Description

Two tintypes of American Indian Wars soldiers 1870's/1880's

The first, a sixth-plate in period case with embossed, patriotic motif with double-elliptical, embossed brass mat. Full-view of soldier, probably a Pennsylvania National Guardsman, standing in five-button frock coat against a contrived, landscape backdrop; the second, a tintype in paper sleeve of a New Jersey infantryman wearing belt, medals and other insignia, holding Springfield trapdoor rifle, and standing in campsite.

3 1/4 in. x 2 3/4 in. and 3 5/8 in. x 2 5/8 in.
