Half plate ambrotype portrait of a curious family of four, featuring a middle-aged man at center, possibly Native American or mixed-race although difficult to confirm, with a woman seated at right, possibly his wife, holding a baby in her lap, and a young lady seated at left. They are posed before a plain studio backdrop. (Few minor areas of loss to varnish, very good clarity and contrast.) Housed in a half pressed paper case with penciled notations behind plate, which do not seem to relate to the portrait. 

Consignor relates that the ambrotype was acquired from Fort Smith, Arkansas.
