[ENSLAVEMENT]. Manuscript estate document outlining division of enslaved persons. 15 September 1846.

Manuscript legal document detailing the selling of interest in named enslaved individuals by William Crank to Samuel B. Findley. [Smith County, TN], 15 September 1846. 2pp., 7 7/8 x 9 5/8 in. (creasing, separations, large area of loss on second leaf, toning). Enslaved persons mentioned include Charlotte, Bob, Caroline, Martha, and Wenney, who are promised to certain family members of the deceased Booker Parrish of Goochland County, VA (Polly and Lipscomb Crank), but are, in part, being sold to said Samuel B. Findley for $320.

[With:] A statement of services performed by Robert Neilson as Inspector of the Customs for the Port of Baltimore, 30 September 1838. Amongst other duties, Neilson indicates his responsibilities included: "To examine al slaves shipped to other ports in the United States, and see they correspond with the manifest."
