10 pinback buttons, approx. 3 1/2 in. diameter and smaller, including: 2 buttons related to the James Meredith March through Mississippi in 1966. -- 75th Anniversary of the Founding of Mound Bayou, Mississippi, including portraits of the founders I.T. Montgomery and B.T. Green. -- Medgar Evers "In Memoriam / Freedom" button. -- 3 buttons associated with Charles Evers' political career, the largest from "Mayor Charles Evers Inauguration, Fayette, Mississippi, July 7, 1969." -- "I Support MFDP" (Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party) button. -- "Boycott Mississippi" button. -- "Free Elections in Sunflower" button representing the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, which was formed to protest racial exclusion by the all-white Mississippi Democratic Party in 1964.
Together, 10 pinback buttons. Condition generally good, with toning, wear consistent with age and use.
