Lot Description
**U.S. Springfield Model 1922M1 with Winchester A5 Scope
World War II
.22LR. 24" barrel length. SN: 16072. Blued metal finish overall with a polished bolt set in a half length semi-pistol grip Walnut stock with finger grooves and L shaped buttplate. Bolt-action repeating rifle fed by detachable single stack magazines and mounting LYMAN/57SME rear and fully hooded front blade sights. Receiver shows the manufacture and model marking U.S./SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/M1922M1./CAL..22, while the forward barrel is marked SA/{Ordnance Bomb}/6-32, indicating it was made in June of 1932. Stock has been cut for a larger Lyman 48 sight that has been replaced by the smaller Model 57 currently installed, leaving a void in the stock. Barrel and forward receiver are drilled and tapped, and mount Unertl style scope blocks with an installed Winchester A5 marked scope. Left stock shows a boxed DAL cartouche of ordnance inspector Daniel A. Leary, who inspected stocks manufactured from World War I into the 1930s. Bolt is marked NS/M2 on the bolt handle and shows part number C3998. Comes with no magazine.
