A Chinese Fur-Lined Embroidered Silk Lady's Surcoat
19th Century
清晚期 藏青地拐子龍紋暗團花灰鼠女褂
tailored from deep blue silk woven with patterns of stylized foliage and scrolls interspersed with roundels trimmed at the collar, central opening, cream silk padded cuffs, and ruyi form side vents with bands of floral trim worked in shades of 'three blues'. The interior is fully lined with squirrel pelts arranged to to create alternating vertical stripes of cream and fawn peeking out the cuffs and collar.
