A Liverpool Transfer-Printed Creamware 'Washington in Apotheosis' Pitcher
one side with Washington raised from his tomb by winged figures of Immortality and Father Time, with allegories of Faith, Hope, and Charity at left and an allegorical figure of Liberty and a Native American representing the Western Hemisphere seated below, after a print by John James Barralet (Irish, circa 1747-1815); the opposite with a three-masted sailing ship flying a fifteen-star American flag, identified Ship Maria in gilt, with additional text now faded.
Allegory of Hope transfer beneath the spout.
