A Very Rare Staffordshire Transfer-Print Creamware War of 1812 Portrait Pitcher
Davenport Pottery, England, Early 19th Century

one side with bust-length portrait of Oliver Hazard Perry in uniform; the opposite with bust-length portrait of Andrew Jackson as Major General in uniform.
with three-masted sailing ship flying fifteen-star American flag beneath the spout.
black line border and highlights to both rim and handle.
Height 8 inches.

David and Linda Arman note in Anglo-American Ceramics, Part I that there is only one other recorded example of the Davenport Perry portrait transfer used on a pitcher. Similarly, the Jackson transfer is employed on just three known pitcher examples.
