Contemporary Flintlock Jaeger Rifle in the Style of Johann Gratzl
John B. Derrick (American, b.1936)
.50 caliber. 32" octagonal barrel. SN: NSN. Finish left in the white. Black walnut stock has ornately carved rococo scroll with foliate motifs, as well as incised lines and a cheekrest to left side. Flintlock rifle with a cast brass adjustable diopter tang sight, brass two leaf folding notch rear sight, and brass fleur-de-lis blade front sight. Item features a patchbox on right side, sling loop and stud, and brown leather sling. Stock features wax-cast brass filigree fittings with intertwined motifs including foliage, a lounging hunter and his dog to sideplate, and Diana the Huntress on buttplate. Includes brass tip ramrod. Item is without flint, jaws are currently fitted with a small block of wood.
