Lot Description

**Smith & Wesson DA .45 Hand Ejector Model of 1917 (Postwar-Transitional)

.45 ACP. 5.5" barrel length. SN: 209929. Blued metal finish with casehardened hammer and trigger mounting checkered walnut Smith & Wesson medallion grips on a 5-screw frame. Double action hand ejector 6-shot revolver with topstrap notch and front blade sights. Item features a pinned barrel, and the markings consist of S.&W. D.A. 45 on the left barrel with two line address on the top reading SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS. U.S.A./PATENTED DEC. 17, 1901. FEB. 6, 1906. SEPT. 14, 1909. Right frame is marked MADE IN U.S.A., and the sideplate shows the Smith & Wesson monogram proof mark. The butt has been cut for a lanyard loop but none is installed. Serial numbers match on the butt, rear cylinder, and beneath the star extractor. Assembly number matches on the internal frame and on the crane. The left grip panel has been cut down to permit easier access to the latch. Front sight has been cut down, and appears to have been reshaped with solder at some point.
