(American Mid 19th-Century Music Manuscript.) Waleman, Durr. Musick fur 2 Clarinetten fur Waleman Durr. N.p., 1843. Oblong 4to, orig. marbled bds.; worn & detached, spine gone. Hand-painted calligraphic title, 88 pp. Title loose. Noted on 8 stave paper in a single hand throughout, with several corrections. Most of the music is unattributed, quite possibly in original arrangements.
The title page is lettered in black in Gothic style within a central oval. A decorative motif of entwined leaves & branches encircles the central oval with a harp & horn crossed at the motif's lower central border, set against a yellow, red & green sunburst emanating from a golden head, all against a blue sky with white cloud motifs in the corners. All in a naive but carefully executed style, possibly in the American Moravian tradition.
