With 6 color fraktur bookplate of David Kaupp mounted to front pastedown. With floral, ornithological & geometric designs in red, green, blue, yellow, orange & lettered in deep purple brown, this 6 color folio bookplate's design covers an area of 13 1/2 x 8 inches; 343 x 203 mm. It shows some minor fading & small areas of paper loss along its top & bottom borders. The lettering reads, "D. Jesu Mein Licht, versosz den armen Gunder nicht. David Kaupp."
Borneman in Pennsylvania German Bookplates... p. 114 records 4 bookplates of comparable size, but none in as many colors. A 3 color bookplate of comparable size is recorded in the collection of The Free Library of Philadelphia, Allen, Ex-Libris: Essays of a Collector, 1896. The bookplate offered here is likely the only known 6 color fraktur bookplate.
