Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. A group of 3 CDVs highlighted by 2 portraits of a Union drummer boy displayed under a mat decorated with a hand-drawn patriotic motif.
The lot features 2 CDVs of the same young, unidentified boy, including an uncredited portrait in which he is shown dressed in uniform posed with his drum resting on the studio floor beside him. He holds a pair of drumsticks with one hand and the strap of his drum with the other hand. The second CDV shows the same young lad in civilian dress, leaning against a studio pillar. The CDV features a blindstamp credit to "Pollock" at lower right and includes a 2-cent US Internal Revenue stamp on verso. A third CDV of a young girl, possibly a relative, is also included, with verso credit to Leisenring Bros., Mt. Pleasant, IA, and penciled notation, "Grandma Taggarts Picture." The 3 CDVs are partially affixed to board with tape and displayed under a paper mat decorated with a patriotic motif accomplished in ink and watercolor, comprised of two US flags, a female in uniform, and crossed weapons, 9 x 12 in. overall (some light smudging, damp staining to margins of mat and board).
Together, 3 CDVS, each approx. 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 in., on cardstock mounts, with some toning, soiling, and light edge wear.
