Lot Description

TYLER, John (1790-1862). Autograph letter signed ("J. Tyler"), to John C. Spencer. N.p., ca 1841-1843.

One page, 5 x 8 in. Old folds, some wear and light creasing to edges and corners. 

In full: "The paper is what it should be. Can you have all the documents ready to go in this morning. I have made a single suggestion of amendment at the 4 page. If you concur that sheet can be recopied. If not just let it alone." 

Likely written during Tyler's presidency - more specifically during John Spencer's service as Secretary of War and/or Treasury - the letter is dated 30 January, but with no year indicated.

John C. Spencer (1788-1855)served as Tyler's Secretary of War (1841-43) and Secretary of the Treasury (1843-44).
