Lot Description

Two Chinese Red Overlay Glass Snuff Bottles
Qing Dynasty (1644-1912)

清 雪霏地套寶石紅料鼻烟壺兩支
the first example of the full pear form body resting on an oval footring, applied onto the snowflake ground with a thin layer of red overlay, carved to depict seasonal flowers such as an orchid, chrysanthemum, peony, and lotus. The second example of the semi-translucent body overlaid with a coiled chi dragon on each side, their tails forming the footrim, adorned with a mock mask on each shoulder.
Height of larger 2 1/2 in., 6.4 cm.
