A Chinese Lady's Informal Hat, Liang Patou and Celadon Jade Crosspiece
Late Qing Dynasty
清晚期 旗頭及鎏金、青玉扁方一組
the eight-sided headpiece fashioned of black silk satin arranged to simulated elegantly coiffed hair folded over a gilt metal openwork crosspiece above a red silk band of knots punctuated with beaded flowers, together with an additional crosspiece of pale celadon jade incised with floral motifs.
Length of hat 16 3/4 in., 42.5 cm.
