A Large Pale Celadon Jade Figure of a Fu Lion and Cub
Qing Dynasty (1644-1912)
清 青玉臥獅
the lion with its right paw over a brocade ball, the ribbon grasped firmly in the beast's mouth, a smaller cub climbing onto its father's haunches, the lions both well-modelled with detailed fur throughout. The stone of a an even pale celadon tone with areas of whitish inclusions.
Length 6 1/2 in., 16.5 cm.
