Lot Description
[HICKOK, James Butler "Wild Bill" (1837-1876)]. CDV of Wild Bill Hickok. Junction City, KS: A.M. Snyder, [ca 1870s].
2 1/8 x 3 3/8 in. CDV on cardstock mount (few stains and occasional spotting to print and mount, few light creases to print near top left corner and edge; edge and corner wear to mount including short tear to bottom edge). Verso with imprint of A.M. Snyder, Junction City, Kansas.
A scarce period copy image of Hickok made after the original example credited to A.P. Trott of Abilene. In The West of Wild Bill Hickok, Joseph G. Rosa (1982: 4-5; 138-139) suggests the image was likely made about 1871 when Hickok was traveling between Abilene and nearby Junction City, Kansas.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
